Issues & Advocacy

About the NCRA Government Relations Department

The goal of NCRA’s Government Relations staff is to provide our members with timely information and assistance on issues affecting the court reporting and captioning profession. We work with state affiliated associations and directly with members to develop solutions to issues that affect your livelihood.

The Government Relations Department provides training opportunities at state conventions and at NCRA’s annual Boot Camp to help prepare you for obstacles and opportunities. NCRA believes that through training we are building an informed grassroots army that will be able to advocate for itself at the federal and state levels.

NCRA also protects you by monitoring state and federal issues and supporting legislative and regulatory initiatives that increase the role of the court reporter and captioner in society. We are on Capitol Hill increasing the visibility of the profession and educating legislators on the importance of the trained reporter.

NCRA needs YOU

While NCRA is hard at work protecting your livelihood and increasing opportunities for reporters nationwide, we still need your help. As JFK almost said, "Ask not what your profession can do for you, but what can you do for your profession."

To take a more active role in your profession and find out what is happening in the industry, explore the links in the left-hand column. You will find out about hot issues affecting reporters and the easy steps you can take to make a difference.

After all, if you don’t protect your profession, who will?
