August 14th Skills Exam Update

The skills tests are currently being graded by those members who have successfully completed NCRA's Qualified Grader Program. Results will be mailed in 5-6 weeks.

New eligibility requirements for NCRA's exams

Starting with the 2010 October WKT and the November skills exams, candidates no longer need to be members of NCRA in order to take the RPR.  Candidates must be stenographic reporters in order to take the RPR.

Required Information for all Candidates

Visit the Required Information for Candidates page to download testing rules and regulations and other documents that all candidates must have in-depth knowledge of to successfully participate in the certification testing process.

Job Analyses Provide Blueprint for Written Knowledge Examinations

Each of NCRA's written knowledge examinations are designed around a job analysis, which are blueprints of the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively perform the job being certified. To access the job analysis for your certification of interest, click here.

Written Knowledge Test Administration in 2010

To ensure the integrity and quality of the testing program, while continuing to meet member demand, the Board voted to continue to offer the RPR and CLVS written knowledge tests four times a year (January, April, July, and October), and to offer the RMR, RDR, CBC, and CCP written knowledge tests two times a year (April and October).

Matching of Candidate Names to Photo IDs

All candidates must present a photo ID for verification of identity when registering at the test site for both the written knowledge exam or skills exam. PLEASE NOTE: Without exception, your photo ID must contain the exact same name as the name you submitted when registering with NCRA for the exam. For example, if your photo ID says "John Duane Smith" and you registered as Duane Smith, you will not be permitted entry to the testing facility. If you have recently married, and you registered with your married name, but your photo ID contains your maiden name, you will not be permitted entry to the testing facility. Please make sure your name on your photo ID corresponds to the name you registered with for the written knowledge or skills exam.

New Identification Procedure at Pearson VUE Test Centers

Pearson VUE now uses Palm Vein Recognition for personal identification of candidates at its written knowledge test centers. Your palm will be scanned at check-in to gain entry into the test room. This is strictly for identification purposes and will not be shared with, or compared against, any outside entity.
