Reinstatement

CLVS Reinstatement Policies

(As adopted by the Board of Directors, February 2009)

1. CLVS Membership Reinstatement Policy.

Any membership terminated by resignation may be reinstated to the Member’s former class of Membership upon written request and payment of the full current year’s dues.  In the case of a Registered Member or Certified Legal Video Specialist, reinstatement to the former class of Membership will be dependent upon fulfilling the continuing education requirements and such other requirements as may be in effect at the time of reinstatement.

Any membership terminated for nonpayment of dues or charges may be reinstated by fulfilling the current requirements for membership and paying any delinquent charges.

2. NCRA Policy re Reinstatement: Appeal Guidelines.  - Effective July 1, 2009

  • Appeals are denied where certification was lost four or more years prior.
  • Second appeals are denied (extenuating circumstances may be considered).
  • First-time appeals for reinstatement are granted (where certification was lost in the most recent three-year period) upon payment of any back dues or designation fees owing.
  • The CLVS Council Chair is authorized to decide appeals presented in between CLVS Council meetings based on the above guidelines, and to place on the next CLVS Council agenda any appeals that involve issues not covered by the above guidelines.
  • If the Council approves a member’s request, it recommends the appropriate action to resolve the matter.  Should the member choose not to or fail to meet the stipulations of the Council, request approvals may be withdrawn.  The Council’s recommendation is the final step in the appeals process.
